BANANA OAT PROTEIN PANCAKES

After traveling for 4 months we have officially stopped and landed in London to get our life back on track and into a routine – ie time to get a job! BUT if there is one thing I am enjoying about being unemployed, it is the free time to get creative and experimental in the kitchen with my breakfasts. I have never really been overly successful with protein pancakes because I find they can be quite dry and the raw mixture is nicer than the final product… until now. After many attempts, here is my simple and delicious protein pancake recipe. You can make it what ever flavour you want by adding some additions or going NUTS with the toppings. Try it this weekend and let me know how you go.  Continue reading “BANANA OAT PROTEIN PANCAKES”

CHRISTMAS SIDES AND SALADS

This Christmas I am in London and will be celebrating my first (not white) UK Christmas but also Christmas Eve dinner as my partner is of Polish heritage. I am on ‘salad and sides’ cooking duties and whipped up these incredibly delicious vegetable salads to go with the meat. We had 5 people at dinner and had lots of left overs for lunch the next day. Would serve up to 8 people happily. Here are my 3 recipes;  Continue reading “CHRISTMAS SIDES AND SALADS”

OH MY GINGERBREAD MEN

My favourite unhealthy biscuit on the market is a a two way tie between the Gingernut biscuit and the Monte Carlo – both Aussie Aarnott’s classics. But we all know that these highly processed biscuits are packed with preservatives and refined sugars that aren’t good for our waistlines when consumed out of moderation. So how can be have our biscuit and eat it too? By removing the nasty stuff and baking my healthy alternative ginger bread biscuits yourself. You can add a thumb print of homemade strawberry jam (recipe from the I Quit Sugar blog) for a cheeky festive touch and Monte Carlo effect. I shall call these my ‘Gingerbread men from Monte Carlo’ biscuits. Don’t forget to put a couple out for Santa with a glass of almond mylk too. He will love them! Not to mention how insanely incredible and festive your house will smell. Continue reading “OH MY GINGERBREAD MEN”

4 INGREDIENTS 4 WAYS

When it comes to breakfast I don’t need to rant on about how it is the most important meal of the day and should be packed with CARBS, PROTEIN and FAT right? A few staple breakfast ingredients include oats, eggs and bananas. It occurred to me the other day that my porridge was very similar to my Sunday Oat pancake, and my breakky smoothie was looking a bit like my soaked oats blended.   Continue reading “4 INGREDIENTS 4 WAYS”

80/20 LIFESTYLE

I am sure you have heard of the 80/20 lifestyle consisting of 80% clean and healthy food + 20% indulgent treat food = 100% perfect balance. This is the ‘lifestyle’ (not diet… I hate that word) that I like to follow and live by. It means that I eat healthy and clean foods majority of the time but then let myself indulge in the most naughty of naughty treats without any guilt or regret. When I focus on treating myself 20% of the time it means that I am naturally eating healthy the other 80% without trying. Continue reading “80/20 LIFESTYLE”
