5 WAYS TO PIMP YOUR AVO TOAST
Avocado toast is just one of those ultimate classic dishes right? It is quick, easy, looks gourmet, tastes insane and is super healthy for you – not to mention ON EVERY breakfast menu worth looking at. Hello carbs and healthy fats! Ahhh I have been addicted to avocado toast for quite some while now and it makes the perfect breakfast, morning tea snack, quick lunch, arvo hunger snack or easy lazy dinner. Mmmm you can’t go wrong with natures butter!! Here are 5 new ways that you can pimp your avo toast and make it a little more gourmet or interesting! These combos aren’t for everyone but hopefully one of them tickles your fancy. Otherwise – just stick with the classic.
1. SLAM DUNK IT
Just like the good old days when mum served our toast in thin strips called ‘soldiers’ and we got messy dunking it into our soft boiled eggs. I LOVE a good boiled egg, especially dunking some quality toast into the running yolk oh gee!! And what’s even better than the classic egg and soldiers? Runny boiled eggs with soldiers AND avocado!! Give it a go!
2. ADD SOME CRUNCH
I am all about the texture when it comes to food AND the toppings. I love a little extra crunch factor of nuts and seeds to my salads, porridge and most recently avocado toast. Sprinkle a few pepitas, nuts or almond flakes onto your next slice of avocado toast. Delish!For the spice fans: Add a little spice to your life with some chili flakes or tabasco hot sauce. Careful not to go over board or you wont be able to taste much else than the chili.
3. BERRY BIG SWEET TOOTH?
Now don’t judge a book by it’s cover right? So don’t turn your nose up at this until you try it. It is delish! Honestly avocado goes with everything and this combo does not fail the taste buds. Give it a go – you can add a little goats cheese or balsamic glaze if you are trying to get super fancy or impress!
4. ADD SOME FISHIES
I understand that sardines aren’t for everyone but surely everyone likes smoked salmon?? Actually that might not be true. I never used to be a fan to be honest but now my taste buds have ‘matured’ I cannot get enough. Try topping your next avo toast with sardines or smoked salmon – I am slightly addicted and it will add a super omega 3 and a protein boost.
5. FETA MAKES EVERYTHING BETA
Avocado on toast is amazing on its own BUT feta makes it a match made in heaven. The next time you are making your smashed avo, add some crumbled feta for a restaurant quality breaky bound to impress. Some fresh torn mint or basil leaves will make for a tasty extra.
