BERLIN; 3 days in Berlin

Berlin is an absolute MUST when it comes to European cities. The city exudes culture and history, which makes it an intriguing and engaging place to visit. Great foodie scene, plenty of markets, roof top bars and hipster suburbs with great coffee and local street art.

Klunkerkranich – great rooftop bar

TO STAY

We were lucky enough to stay at a friends apartment in the hipster area called Neukoelln. It was close to the Metro and found it a really nice part of the city, giving us an authentic ‘local’ experience in Berlin. If you are only going for 2-3 days it might be better to stay central in the Mitte.

Wombat Hostel; This was where Rob stayed when he visited Berlin twice. It is nice and central, above a great Aussie cafe and laundromat, full of travellers and good vibes.

TO EAT
Katz Orange; we couldn’t get a table but I have heard some seriously amazing things. It is fancy, it is expensive but the building, ambience and food is incredible. Book ahead.
Schnitzelei Mitte ; Amazing authentic schnitzel restaurant which is always busy. Book ahead. They also offer gluten free schnitzels and it was really yum.
Shisho Burger; japanese burger place and honestly one of the best burgers I HAVE EVER HAD. Explosive flavours plus the edamame beans and sweet potato fries were divine.

Salmon burger and classic beef burger from Shisho Burgers

CAFES and COFFEE
The BARN cafe; Aussie coffee and brunch
Father Carpenter; Great cafe with great coffee.
TINMAN Berlin; Another Aussie cafe, smashed avo, acai bowls and great coffee.
Dots Cafe; Great coffee. Aussie barista who yells out your order ‘almond flatty, longy with oat milk’

Here is the list of places to eat and drink and dance until all hours that my friend gave to us. Split into the suburbs Neukolln, Kreuzberg and the Mitte area.

OTHER;

Tattoo shops; we both got our first tattoo whilst in Berlin at a place called UniKat Black. Highly recommend. They were great artists. Our artist was called Salut Manu. An awesome French guy who actually learnt how to tattoo whilst living in Freo, Perth.

First tattoo – UniKat Black

MONEY: Germany uses the Euro so it is very easy to exchange or withdraw especially when travelling to other countries in the Euro.

Water: you can definitely drink from the tap in Berlin so grab your water bottle and fill it up before you head out on your tourist adventures.

The airport is also really close to the city of Berlin, so taxis and ubers are very handy. We got the international train into Berlin from Amsterdam and got an uber from the train station. CityMapper also works in Berlin and is a great app to use to get around on the transport. The underground metro is super easy and convenient to use.

Enjoy! We loved Berlin and would definitely go back!

10 DAYS IN VIETNAM

Amazing local street food, beautiful busy little cities, plenty of smiley locals and cute babies, insane landscapes, rice fields and gorgeous mountains and so much diversity of land – Vietnam has everything. STAVANGER, NORWAY; K+K fit and healthy guide to;

This cute little town located on the South Western coast of Norway got its name on the map during the oil boom. Regardless of the articles you read about Stavanger the petroleum museum is not its only icon. In fact there is so much more to Stavanger’s old centre including some of the most beautiful and best-preserved wooden buildings anywhere in Norway. TEL AVIV ISRAEL; K + K FIT AND HEALTHY GUIDE TO

Few places on earth are like Israel. The snazzy bustle of Tel Aviv, the little alleys and colourful markets of old town Jerusalem, the stillness of the Dead Sea and the vast arid landscapes of the hills and valleys on the way. You have to go to believe it. Oh and did I mention hummus…
