MALTA; K+K Fit and Healthy Guide to;

A country that I knew very little about but soon learnt to love. We only had 3 days but it was the perfect amount of exploring and relaxing pool side. Located south west of Italy in the middle of the Med, expect large super yachts you can admire from afar, little colourful boats, plenty of beach clubs, over crowded bays, Mediterranean sunshine and cuisine and and a killer tan.

TO STAY;

We stayed in St Julian’s bay at Hotel Argento. Would totally recommend. Slightly crowded (and full of English folk) but it is a beautiful little harbour with stunning water, plenty of cafes, night life and a oceanside path along the headland. If you have some money to spare and can get a sweet deal, the Hilton in St Julian’s is amazeballs…

TO SEE;

The best way to see Malta is by car. Get yourself some good insurance and set off. Here are the best of the bunch to pin on your map.

St Peter’s Pool; This is nature at it’s finest. Located on the East coast of the island, you will need a car to get here (a small one too) But it is worth the bumpy road out there. This little ‘pool’ creates the perfect spot for cliff jumping, swimming and sunbaking on uneven rocks. Bring a book, some water and some form of shade and set yourself up for the day. We popped passed at around 6pm and it was still busy. I can imagine it would get packed during the day. So be prepared for people otherwise go for sunset.

Blue Lagoon, Comino Island; Only a 10 euro boat side off the Northern tip of Malta across to Comino island. Visiting the Blue Lagoon is a must. It gets very busy after the large charter boats arrive around 11.30. So you would want to get there before that to get some beach space and water to yourself. The water is unreal, super clear, shallow and the colour is insane #nofilter

Valletta; This the the capital city of Malta. We didn’t go into Valletta but we saw it from Silema bay which was super pretty. You could see the whole city and skyline which is simply stunning. Very Istanbul like.

St Paul’s Bay; Another bay to add to your list if you are driving past. Plenty of Cafes and beach space which is slightly less crowded if you wanted to pull up a sun bed and relax oceanside.

Cafe Del Mar, Beach Club; Think Ibiza meets Mykonos, for this cliff side beach club. If you want a table for lunch you have to book in advance or you can pay for entry into the pool area and sunbake and have a cheeky beverage instead. It is exactly as it sounds, a fancy beach club on a cliff edge to spend the day in style. I assume it gets quite busy and rowdy as the sun sets but if this is your scene I would totally recommend.

TO EAT;

we feasted at our hotel buffet each morning and then ate poolside or at little cafes around the island. There is plenty of food spots, the seafood is great and always go local when you can.

Cafe BERRY; For the best iced coffees (and coffee in general) on the island. If you love coffee, check this place out.

The Grassy Hopper; We didn’t make it to this Vegan cafe but it’s located in Valetta so if you are healthy and love an Acai bowl to compensate for that pasta or cocktail – head here for some health.

Zeri’s Restaurant; beautiful seafood restaurant located in Paceville harbour in St Julian’s. Expect the freshest pasta you have eaten, local seafood and amazing tuna steaks.

There is loads more to Malta but if you manage to see a bay or two, eat some local seafood and chillax by the pool – then you are doing good. We had 3 days and although we didn’t want to leave, it was enough time to get a tan *cough sunburn cough*
